Dermal Filler Treatments

Typically used for the treatment of static lines and lip augmentation, dermal fillers can also be used for enhancing the cheek or chin and correcting nasal defects. Made of hyaluronic acid, which occurs naturally in the skin, eyes, joints and umbilical cord its aim is to replace lost volume and to plump out lines. A topical anaesthetic cream will be used to numb the skin before the treatment is carried out. Results are instant although it may take a few days for any swelling to go down.

  • Am I suitable for treatment? - This treatment is not recommended if you are pregnant or breast feeding, allergic to the product, have an infection in the area you wish to be treated or if you have uncontrolled diabetes, heart conditions, epilepsy or auto immune disease.
  • Botox Injections
  • Does it hurt? - Your skin will be numbed first and Juvederm Ultra has local anaesthetic inside the product which makes the treatment more comfortable. In the case of lip augmentation, a local anaesthetic; similar to a dental injection, is administered to completely numb up the lip area.
  • How long will it last? - Dermal fillers generally last around 6 - 9 months however, in some cases you can get a longer duration. Treatments around the lip or augmenting the lip itself can lead to a shorter duration.
  • Will my lines go completely? - It is not always possible to completely fill out a line. Sometimes they will just soften.
  • What are the side effects? - The most common side effect is redness, swelling and bruising. If you suffer from cold sores, an injection into this area can induce an outbreak. There is a risk of allergic reaction and infection also. Rarer side effects occur around 1 in every 10,000 treatments which include granulomas, cysts, abscess, nodules, acne like lesions whilst the rarest side effect is less than 1 in 15,000 cases which is localised necrosis.
