Lip Treatments

Lip Augmentation

As we age we lose projection and have a loss of volume of our lips. This can turn down the edges of our mouths and lead to bleeding of lipstick due to fine lines appearing above and below the lips. The best treatment for this is to subtly enhance the border of the lip and increase the volume of the fleshy part of the lip with a dermal filler. dermal fillers and botox can be used, although our practitioner will advise on the best option.

If you suffer from cold sores you may be advised to take oral aciclovir to prevent an outbreak of a lesion following lip enhancement treatment. The lips are very sensitive to treat and we are able to inject some local anaesthetic to numb your lips prior to treatment. As the lips are very vascular, they are prone to bruising and haematoma, which is a collection of blood, you may wish to take arnica tablets in the days leading up to your treatment to help reduce the risk and severity of bruising.

Botox Injections

Most concerns expressed by clients are that they don't want to look like Lesley Ash. She unfortunately had a reaction to what we think is a permanent implant. SMOOTH Medical only use hyaluronic acid dermal fillers for lip augmentation for your safety and for a natural looking result.

Lip Lines

Lines around the lip are sometimes referred to as smoker's lines but they can appear on people who do not smoke. Some female clients complain that their lip lines can cause their lipstick to bleed. Our lips are one of the most mobile parts of our face and as with other areas, the more a muscle moves, the more the overlying skin will contract to form lines.

Treatment options for this indication are:

  • Botox Injections to relax the muscle and soften the lines, careful assessment is paramount to ensure the correct amount is given to retain a natural look.
  • Dermal Fillers to directly fill out these lines without affecting the muscle.
  • Dermaroller is a natural treatment where your body regenerates itself, this area is quite sensitive to treat therefore we suggest a local anaesthetic before treatment to ensure you are as comfortable as possible.
  • Chemical Peel treatments are only effective if the lines are very superficial. The benefit of this treatment is that the whole face will be treated which will also improve the complexion, reduce pigmentation and acne.
